
Derek Floyd –
Golf Course Superintendent
Derek was born in Fort
Wayne, Indiana and lived there until graduation of high school
in 1995. After graduating he lived at home for two years while
attending Saint Francis University. During that time he played
on the golf team and grew his love for the game of golf. In
1997 he headed off to Michigan State University to study
Turfgrass Management and graduated from the 2-year program in
1999.
Piping Rock Club located
on Long Island, New York is where Derek got his start in the
turfgrass industry as an Assistant Superintendent. While there,
Derek traveled south during the winter months to work at the
Augusta National for two years. He worked 5 Masters
Tournaments, then headed back to New York where he worked at
Winged Foot Golf Club. Derek was at Winged Foot for two years
and helped oversee crews as they prepped the course for the 2004
U.S. Amateur and 2006 U.S. Open.
In May 2004 Derek arrived
here at The Reserve Club and assumed the role of Assistant
Superintendent. Over the next two years Derek sharpened his
skills while working along side Wes Elijah. In June of 2006
Derek took over the position of Golf Course Superintendent. “I
am excited to be here at The Reserve Club and look forward to
all the new challenges ahead. I am fortunate to have a great
staff and it is our goal to provide our members the best
possible golfing experience.”
