Derek Floyd – Golf Course Superintendent

Derek was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and lived there until graduation of high school in 1995.  After graduating he lived at home for two years while attending Saint Francis University. During that time he played on the golf team and grew his love for the game of golf.  In 1997 he headed off to Michigan State University to study Turfgrass Management and graduated from the 2-year program in 1999.

Piping Rock Club located on Long Island, New York is where Derek got his start in the turfgrass industry as an Assistant Superintendent.  While there, Derek traveled south during the winter months to work at the Augusta National for two years.  He worked 5 Masters Tournaments, then headed back to New York where he worked at Winged Foot Golf Club.  Derek was at Winged Foot for two years and helped oversee crews as they prepped the course for the 2004 U.S. Amateur and 2006 U.S. Open.

In May 2004 Derek arrived here at The Reserve Club and assumed the role of Assistant Superintendent.  Over the next two years Derek sharpened his skills while working along side Wes Elijah.  In June of 2006 Derek took over the position of Golf Course Superintendent.  “I am excited to be here at The Reserve Club and look forward to all the new challenges ahead.  I am fortunate to have a great staff and it is our goal to provide our members the best possible golfing experience.”
